Our training philosophy
Hormesis is the principle by which you stress and adapt a system to increase its adaptive capacity. In the same way, you have to stress a muscle to get a muscle to grow. If you're lifting a small amount of weight that is easy then no input tells the muscle it needs to get stronger. There’s a cost and effort to getting stronger, so it’s only going to afford that cost if it’s being stressed. Another example is; if it's hot outside and you stay in the AC you will not build metabolic flexibility to adapt to the heat and your body will not perform well under these conditions. This is the same hormetic process that is the foundation of all of our training courses.
Knowing how to best build a proper automatic neural pathway or “muscle memory”, is tricky business, and the fact is that most trainers are only teaching you how to kill a piece of paper, not how to deal with real-life threats, and they’re definitely not teaching students how to apply legal use of force tactics. This is not entirely their fault, they are working with the best they have.
At Threat dynamics we’re training our students with the best that anyone has. We teach what we call; “mind over muscle understanding” to generate long-term tactical habits by using proven brain hacks that trick the conscious mind to allow the sub-survival brain to do its job; keep you alive! We use this principle to condition trainees for hyper normal stimuli (aka stress) and higher cognitive ability intrinsically. At Threat dynamics we understand probably more than most about the complexity of becoming a well-rounded defensive shooter, but maybe more importantly we understand what it takes to communicate our teachings in the best way for our students to instill lasting defensive auto-responses.
We don’t measure our success by how many students we train, but by how well our students retain what we teach, so they can continue to teach themselves and others. We can only learn so much at one time, and that’s why we spread out our 25 different progressive classes tailored to the individual’s specific training goals.
Come see the difference and take a class with us or at least come to the facility and make an appointment to use our state-of-the-art Simulator or with our expert Firearms Instructors. You’ll be glad you did!
